The Truth About Wire Shelving
WIRE SHELVING: it’s not the worst. It’s affordable. Easy to install. It’s strong. And with some organizing products, it’s completely fine.
This picture is of my own pantry. I had a few people ask why I didn’t replace it when I had my entire house painted last week. A few reasons — it is damaging to the walls to remove the supports and anchors that hold up the wire shelves. They are installed to be extremely strong, which means the flip side is that removal makes mega holes in the walls. Mega holes = mega dollars to patch, mud, and repaint. And then you still have to buy and install something nice. Which again means dollars because you aren’t going to put in something cheap when you’ve already gone to so much effort to remove the inexpensive wire shelving. A smaller pantry than mine was recently quoted at $1000 to remove the wire shelving and replace with custom shelves.
Pictured are a couple of the products that House Peace uses in our on-site jobs— a small acrylic bin and a large. I love them because they are so clear - allll the light can get through and I can actually see what I have in my food inventory.
